Five years after voters in the state approved a measure allowing marijuana use for medicinal purposes, Fresno County has agreed to issue marijuana ID cards.

FRESNO, Calif.—A Washington D.C.-based lobbying group seeking to change U.S. marijuana policy says environmental damage in national forests and parks caused by illegal gardens shows a need for a new national approach.
In response Tuesday to a recent Associated Press story describing contamination by herbicides and pesticides used by growers for Mexican drug cartels, Bruce Mirken of the Marijuana Policy Project said that it's time to consider regulating and taxing marijuana.
